Common Shoulder Injuries

Shoulder injuries are commonly caused by athletic activities that involve excessive, repetitive, overhead motion, such as swimming, tennis, pitching, and weightlifting. Injuries can also occur during everyday activities such washing walls, hanging curtains, and gardening.

Injuries to the shoulder also involve rotator cuff injuries. The rotator cuff allows people to lift their arm and reach overhead. The full shoulder functionality is most often not recovered after a rotator cuff injury.

Symptoms of Common Shoulder Injuries

  • Instability or dislocation; feeling like the shoulder is slipping out of place
  • Pain when raising arm
  • Impingement
